Roadwater art groupThe Roadwater Art Group (RAG) was founded by Lorna Bryce in 2010. We are a group of enthusiastic locals who love to explore art in a variety of media, predominantly painting and drawing. A friendly ethos of mutual support and encouragement is fostered within the group.
We meet on Thursday afternoons in Roadwater Village Hall between 2:00pm and 5:00pm roughly adhering to school term times. We occasionally hold internal workshops, drawing on expertise from within the group and once or twice per term we invite outside artists to run workshops. These include life drawing as well as exploring new techniques and approaches in a variety of media. Whole day workshops may incur an extra charge. Last year’s very successful group outing was to the Annual West of England Royal Academy Show and the Grayson Perry exhibition at the Arnolfini in Bristol. We hold a biennual exhibition of our work usually in the Spring or Summer. This may include a collaborative group project. This year’s (2018) show begins on Friday 22nd June in RVH with an opening evening and extends over the weekend. Our numbers are limited by space to 18 at present and there is a short waiting list. Members pay fees termly and non-members can attend workshops for a small fee. Our current chair is Abigail Humphrey (tel. 07790966813) or for further information contact our members secretary Mary Fay on 01643 821416. |
