Roadwater art group

Roadwater Art Group began in 2010. We are a group of local people who love to paint and draw and we meet on Thursday afternoons, term time, from 2.00 - 5.00 pm, in Roadwater Village Hall.

We come to the group from all levels of experience, from qualified and successful artists to relative beginners, and we encourage and support each other in developing our skills and talents in a range of media.

We also invite tutors to work with us to explore new ideas, so far including landscape, pen and ink, using acrylics, wire sculpting, lino cuts, and many more. Occasionally we collaborate by producing something together – like screen printing, or a mural. Every term we try to hold a full day workshop on a Saturday, and have held 3 on life drawing with Julian Fraser. We hold an Exhibition every other April – jolly hard work and very satisfying.

Our Convenor and Chair of our small Committee is Lorna Bryce and Lorna successfully attracted some small start-up grants which helped us to become established. Our numbers are limited by facilities to around 17, though it is sometimes possible to welcome others to workshops. Members pay fees each term, currently £1.50/session, with all day workshop fees at £15.

Refreshments, and a small collection of materials, are paid for as we go along.

There is currently a short waiting list, but if you would like to know more about us please contact Mary Fay on 01643 821416.

The RAG Art Exhibition is on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th April from 10.00am-5.00pm at the Roadwater Village Hall with the opening night on Friday 25th April from 6.00 – 9.00pm.  Refreshments will be available.
